2nd Grade News...

Second graders are beginning the fourth theme in our anthology, “Better Together”. The theme teaches that when we work together, we get more done.  Some comprehension skills we are focusing on are cause and effect, fact and opinion, sequence of events, and summarizing. Strengthening reading fluency is an ongoing process and practice at home is required to achieve this goal.

In math, second graders are, or will be, focusing on 2 and 3-digit addition and subtraction with regrouping, as well as measurement. Students continue to work on passing their math facts tests on Friday mornings with Mrs. Austin.  Encourage your child to continue to practice their math facts with Reflex Math at home at least three times a week.  As always, we are hard at work!

Second graders are also encouraged to practice keyboarding skills at home. Familiarity with technology is necessary for future success in school and life!
